Chuck tray

I found a writing patterned Decopatch paper (£4, Amazon) and wanted to do something with it, but was not sure what. I ended up finding a star cut out wooden tray that I loved (£4, the Works), and decided to make a tray to throw bits and pieces in (i.e. all the craft stuff I don't tidy away.

I painted the tray in multiple layers of white, then cut the Decopatch paper to fit the bottom. I thought it looked to plain so I painted the thin edges of the wood black, which looked much better. I then modgepodged the whole of the inside a few times, and gave the rest of it one layer, leaving each layer to dry between. It has a lovely gloss and even fits neatly on a shelf when I need to clear my desk. I love how it turned out and am already looking around to see what else I can use this paper for.
